Mrs Palethorpe, Head of Nursery welcomes you....

Welcome to Nursery, your child’s crucial year for learning the basic building blocks of their initial education. We give a warm welcome to all our families and children to Oxley Park Academy as building a trusting relationship is vital for every child’s holistic development.

My name is Mrs Palethorpe and I am the class teacher in Nursery. I am very passionate about Early Years education and understand the importance of children gaining an excellent start at a young age. I plan topics and activities which the children are interested in as they will be motivated and curious to learn. Children at this age learn through their senses and first-hand experiences of life which is what I provide in my setting. Play is vital for the children to explore their world and to interact with others. This supports their personal, social and emotional development and communication between others which are life- long skills.

Year Group Curriculum...

The Early Years Framework is used as a guidance in the Nursery. We concentrate on the 3 Prime areas; Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development and Communication and Language Development. We also include the other 4 Specific areas; Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding The World and Expressive Arts and Design. The children are observed during their child-initiated play and during group-time activities so that their Keyworker can support them to reach their next steps.

Please see the Developmental Matters that shows the specific break down and learning objectives within each area.

If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Palethorpe the Nursery teacher.
