Welcome from the Executive Principal and Associate Principal
As Executive Principal and Associate Principal, we are proud to welcome you to Oxley Park Academy. Together, we provide the leadership that ensures our academy continues to thrive, inspire and support every child in our care.
As Executive Principal, Mr Springett‑McHugh oversees the vision, strategic direction and overall leadership of all three provisions of the academy—our two campuses, The Nursery Village, and The Hive, our new SEND unit opening in September 2026. In addition, he serves as the CEO/Director of the Academy Trust, guiding the long‑term strategic development and ensuring unity, ambition and excellence across every part of our organisation.
As Associate Principal, Mrs Draper leads the day‑to‑day running of the academy, ensuring that every element of school life operates smoothly, safely and effectively. She is also the Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead, with responsibility for safeguarding practice, culture and oversight across both campuses.
Together, our roles complement one another: one providing the strategic vision and trust‑wide leadership, the other ensuring the daily operational excellence that children and families experience every single day.
Our Academy and Its Provisions
Across our three distinct but deeply connected provisions, children begin, grow and flourish on a remarkable educational journey.
The Nursery Village welcomes children from the age of three into an immersive early‑years environment where curiosity, confidence and early learning foundations are nurtured.
Oxley Park Academy, our main school, operates across two thriving campuses—Oxley Park and Shenley Wood—each offering rich, inspiring spaces designed to ignite imagination and promote a love of learning.
Opening in September 2026, The Hive, our new SEND unit, will provide a warm, nurturing and highly specialist provision for up to 16 children. It has been purposefully designed to ensure every learner feels a profound sense of belonging, support and opportunity.
Belonging, Identity and Experience
Across all our provisions, belonging is at the heart of what we do. Every part of the academy has a clear identity that supports a different stage of a child’s learning journey; enabling them to Dream, Believe and Achieve. This creates environments that feel exciting, purposeful and memorable—helping children build experiences that stay with them for life. Quite simply: we aim to help every child make memories of a wonderful childhood at school.
Our academy values—the 6Cs: Courageous, Courteous, Co‑operative, Conscientious, Caring, and Curious—shape every aspect of school life. These values are lived out by children and staff each day and are central to our culture, behaviour and expectations.
Our children are proud to be Oxley Parkers. They wear their uniform with pride, show excellent attitudes to learning and bring positivity, politeness and focus into every corridor, classroom and space.
Learning, Curriculum and Environment
At the core of our curriculum lies a strong commitment to ensuring that every child becomes confident and capable in reading, writing and mathematics. These essential skills unlock wider learning and future success. Every child, whatever their starting point, receives the right support, challenge and resources to thrive.
We also believe that excitement, inspiration and creativity help children love school. That is why Oxley Park Academy feels different:
- At our Oxley Park campus, you will find “streets” in place of traditional corridors—vibrant learning spaces where children can work independently and collaboratively.
- At Shenley Wood, light‑filled open quads and beautiful views create calm, motivating spaces that inspire ambition and creativity.
Our curriculum is rich, dynamic and immersive. Each term begins with a new Doorway, a thematic journey rooted in historical or geographical exploration. Every Doorway starts with a Dazzling Debut to spark curiosity and ends with a FAB Finale, celebrating learning in memorable, meaningful ways.
A Partnership with Families
We are grateful to have such supportive parents and carers who work with us to ensure every child can be the very best they can be. This partnership is vital and is something we deeply value.
Whether you are new to the area, looking for the right nursery or school for your child, exploring trustee opportunities, or considering joining Team Oxley, we hope this website gives you a genuine sense of life at Oxley Park Academy. However, the very best way to understand who we are is to come and see us. We would be delighted to welcome you in person.
Warm Regards
Mr N Springett-McHugh Mrs K Draper
