Our Vision

We provide personalised learning experiences that ensure every child accesses a broad and balanced curriculum, carefully tailored to their interests, developmental stage, and individual needs. Our provision is adapted to include targeted opportunities for pupils to work towards the outcomes and priorities identified within their EHCP or SEN Support Plan.

Miss Smith, Inclusion Lead, and Mrs Phillips, Deputy SENCo, warmly welcome you to The Hive. As the leaders responsible for this provision, we are committed to ensuring that every child receives high‑quality, personalised support. We are proud of the nurturing, purposeful environment The Hive offers and the positive impact it has on pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development.

The Hive is our dedicated nurture and intervention space, designed to ensure every child receives the personalised support they need to flourish. Through carefully selected programmes and a warm, structured environment, we help pupils build confidence, develop key skills, and access learning in a way that is meaningful and motivating for them.

Below is an overview of the interventions available within The Hive.

 

Attention Autism

Attention Autism is a highly engaging, practical programme that supports the development of attention, communication, and shared enjoyment. Through visually stimulating activities and structured routines, pupils learn to:

  • Maintain attention for increasing periods

  • Engage in joint attention with adults and peers

  • Develop turn‑taking skills

  • Build positive communication behaviours

This approach is particularly effective for pupils with communication and interaction needs.

 

Sensory Story

Our Sensory Story sessions bring narratives to life through rich, multisensory experiences. Each story incorporates sensory elements—such as sound, texture, movement, and scent—to support:

  • Language development

  • Sensory processing

  • Emotional regulation

  • Story comprehension and recall

These sessions are ideal for pupils who learn best through hands‑on, sensory exploration.

 

Talking and Listening

The Talking and Listening intervention focuses on strengthening the communication skills that underpin learning across the curriculum. Sessions help pupils to:

  • Build and use new vocabulary

  • Develop expressive and receptive language

  • Improve listening and attention

  • Strengthen conversational and social communication skills

Activities are interactive, purposeful, and tailored to individual needs.

 

Be Active Sessions

Our Be Active sessions promote physical development, wellbeing, and self‑regulation through structured movement activities. These sessions support pupils to:

  • Develop gross motor skills

  • Improve coordination and balance

  • Build confidence in physical activity

  • Regulate emotions through movement and sensory input

Be Active is particularly beneficial for pupils who thrive with kinaesthetic learning opportunities.

 

Little Wandle SEN Phonics

We deliver Little Wandle SEN Phonics; a specialist adaptation of the Little Wandle programme designed for pupils with additional needs. This structured, cumulative approach supports children to:

  • Develop phonological awareness

  • Build early reading and spelling skills

  • Progress through small, manageable steps

  • Access high‑quality, multisensory phonics teaching

The programme is flexible and responsive, ensuring every learner can move forward confidently.

 

Mastering Number at KS1

Mastering Number at KS1 provides targeted support to strengthen early number sense. Through short, focused sessions, pupils develop:

  • Fluency with number facts

  • Confidence with counting and subitising

  • A deep understanding of number relationships

  • Strategies for mental calculation

This intervention lays secure foundations for future mathematical learning.
