Play Therapy
What is play-therapy? |
Unlike adults children are unable to express themselves with words when they have ‘big feelings.’ Play Therapy helps them to understand, discover and resolve those big feelings/difficulties using play as a tool.
Our Play Therapist offers a safe environment with undivided attention in our playroom. These weekly sessions have a positive impact on a child’s overall mental health.
Through interacting with, and observing, a child at a play, a Play Therapist can gain a good understanding of the issues which are negatively affecting their emotional wellbeing. As a result, the Therapist is able to help the child make sense of their ‘big feelings’ and help them to develop resilience.
Some of the potential benefits of Play Therapy are:
- Taking more responsibility for certain behaviours
- Developing coping strategies and creative problem-solving skills
- Self-respect
