Play Therapy

What is play-therapy?

Unlike adults children are unable to express themselves with words when they have ‘big feelings.’ Play Therapy helps them to understand, discover and resolve those big feelings/difficulties using play as a tool.

Our Play Therapist offers a safe environment with undivided attention in our playroom. These weekly sessions have a positive impact on a child’s overall mental health.

Through interacting with, and observing, a child at a play, a Play Therapist can gain a good understanding of the issues which are negatively affecting their emotional wellbeing. As a result, the Therapist is able to help the child make sense of their ‘big feelings’ and help them to develop resilience.

Some of the potential benefits of Play Therapy are:

  • Taking more responsibility for certain behaviours
  • Developing coping strategies and creative problem-solving skills
  • Self-respect
  • Empathy and respect for others
  • Alleviation of ay is quiet and Mrs Musselwhite and Miss
  • Learning to fully experience and express feelings Gada
  • Stronger social skills
  • Stronger family relationships

"I really like coming to The Sanctuary because it is quiet and Mrs Musselwhite and Miss Besford are the best!"

  • My children love the school! My eldest was quiet, didn’t want to learn, didn’t enjoy school. Now he is settled, has friends and has started to show improvements. My daughter loves her teachers and is extremely enthusiastic.
